I do enjoy a good sausage now and again August 23, 2006

You know, I hate to admit it, but some of “Crayon Shin-Chan” is pretty damned funny. “Excuse me, ma'am, but would you like to have your windpipe tickled by a big, hot sausage?” And, of course, who can forget “Sir, you look like a man who craves sausage?” Yeah, it's pretty stupid, but I laughed. And I got to see a teaser for Crossover. Shit, that looks like a good flick. . .
[07/31/08 Update: Wow, I had completely forgotten about Crossover until I re-read this. Apparently it has a score of 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. Now that's impressive.]
I love the radio August 10, 2006

I've been listening to the radio in the car this week, and because of that have been treated to hearing that Panic! at the Disco song three times in two days. Every time I hear it, I make a list of things that I really don't like about it. So. . . here that is.
1) It's by Panic! at the Disco, who may annoy me more for their name than anything else.
2) Much obvious borrowing from Fall Out Boy, who really don't seem like they've got much worth borrowing in the first place.
3) Even more obvious borrowing from fucking Peter Schilling of all people. Actually, that might be a positive point.
4) Horrible, 6th-wave emo song title. Although “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” does pale in comparison to “There's A Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't Thought Of It Yet.” Dig the grammar.
5) Awful lyrics.
6) Mildly sexist, although I suppose it's better than “Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off.”
7) Las Vegas gave us the Killers, then this? Thanks.
Generic “heavy, but not too heavy” overproduced guitar tone.
So why don't I totally hate this song? I really have no idea, but for some reason I continue to listen to it every time it comes on. . . 30 times a day.
Oh, cruel fate, why do you mock me? August 1, 2006

Wow, two in one night. . .
I have a confession to make. I love “Cash in the Attic.” Well, let me amend that statement slightly. I love the British version of “Cash in the Attic.” I think a big part of why I like it so much is the crazy crap that British people find in their houses. Hearing conversations like this is amazing:
“This is my walking stick.”
“Oh, you walk with that?”
“Yes.”
“What's the story behind it?”
“Oh, it was owned by Winston Churchill.”
Owned by Winston fucking Churchill. It's crazy. They really have some amazing things. More than once, I've heard someone say, “If they did this show in America, what would they have? Probably nothing good.” I'd be inclined to agree.
I'm really glad that HGTV decided to actually find out, and is now producing an American version of the show. It was on tonight, so I had to stay up to watch it. Actually, I'm currently watching it. I'm not sure why I'm still watching it, though, because it's really bad. Would you like to know the answer? Do you really want to know what they'd find if they did that show in America?
Well, if this episode is anything like the others, they find 250 Beanie Babies and an autographed photo of Erik Estrada. Yeah, those were the highlights. An autographed goddamned picture of Ponch. Dressed as Ponch. Wow, can you believe that only went for $25? $30 under estimate. That buyer must be counting his lucky stars.
I really hope the next episode has some old people in it or something. At least they'd probably have some good crap to sell.
Damn. No such luck.
