If this story had come out on the first, I think it probably would have made it into the “Stories that could be April Fools' jokes but aren't” feature.

The police spokesman said the suspect was arrested “for assault with a weapon, namely the hedgehog.”

Thinking about it, the hedgehog is probably pretty low on my list of animals I would like to have thrown at me. I mean, ouch. I wish the story said why he decided to throw a hedgehog at the kid, though. Seems like a rather strange thing to do.

Is it April already? April 1, 2008

The BBC has a feature today on 10 stories that could be April Fools' jokes, but aren't. Some of them aren't that great, but there are a couple worth reading. For example:

“9. A thief walked out of a busy Norwegian aquarium with a crocodile that was over two feet long, says the Independent.”

Not bad. Also, in case you haven't seen it, here's Google's joke.

In the “Seems like an April Fools' joke but apparently isn't” category, I'll throw this one in as my entry. And I think someone was assigned to write this brief as an April Fools' joke. The fact that there are three sentences of “highlights” for a six sentence brief is great, too.

Edit: Also, MSN, among others, have put up Top 10 April Fools' Day pranks, drawn from the Museum of Hoaxes' list of the Top 100 April Fools' Day Hoaxes. Also, as you may have noticed if you checked out the Museum's blog, YouTube has Rickrolled us all. There's definitely some good stuff out there today.
